SSI Snorkel Instructor Course Prerequisites
Before starting the course, you must meet the following requirements:

Minimum age: 18 years

Hold proof of First Aid and Oxygen Administration certification completed within the previous two years

What You'll Learn on the SSI Snorkel Instructor Course
Throughout the course you'll develop the skills required to teach and supervise snorkellers safely while delivering enjoyable and engaging experiences.
During the programme you will:

Complete the SSI Candidate Water Fitness Evaluation

Demonstrate all skills from the SSI Snorkel Diver programme

Deliver classroom teaching presentations

Deliver in-water teaching presentations

Learn effective briefing and debriefing techniques

Develop coaching skills to identify and correct student problems

Learn how to conduct site-specific risk assessments

Plan and lead one or more guided open water snorkel tours

Gain an understanding of SSI teaching standards and professional responsibilities
SSI Snorkel Instructor Course Itinerary
Day One
- Classroom knowledge development
- Review of snorkelling skills and SSI standards
- Teaching presentation practice
- Understanding the responsibilities of working as a snorkel professional in the UK, including relevant Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance and industry best practice
- Overview of the essential paperwork required to deliver snorkelling programmes, including medical questionnaires, liability releases, risk assessments and training records
- Candidate Water Fitness Evaluation
- Demonstration of snorkelling skills
- In-water teaching presentations
Day Two

Plan and conduct one or two guided snorkel tours

Develop leadership and supervision techniques in a real world snorkelling environment
