Duke of Edinburgh

We have been assisting students in achieving their objectives under the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme across all three levels (Bronze / Silver and Gold) for many years, even our very own team leader Tracey achieved her Gold Duke of Edinburgh many years ago?

There is NO better way to meet your DofE programme requirements than to begin to explore the incredible underwater world, learning life long skills that can then be applied to everyday life.

Maybe use it to undertake some conservation work either underwater or topside.. you do not have to be a diver to educate.

What is Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)?

DofE is about helping you along the path to a productive and prosperous future. As many of the DofE participants say, it’s life-changing.

Achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and an edge over others when you apply for college, university or a job. Beyond your academic achievements, universities want to see evidence of so called ‘soft skills’ that you have developed through extra-curricular activities, such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. Your DofE Award is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these skills in practice.
You’ll also make a difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.

What Dive Rutland offer?

You sit down with a member of our team and discuss what it is you want to achieve, we work together to 'set' and once this has been approved by your Duke of Edinburgh Manager or Team Leader, you will be mentored throughout your time with us.

Depending on what it is you are doing, be that:-

Physical or Skills - you will improve your physical fitness if completing a diving qualification whilst learning new skills
Skills or Volunteering - learn new skills and maybe setup and run an event e.g. running a monthly Dive Against Debris you will also improve your knowledge of the environment and set about protecting it.   First Aid - learn how the human body works all whilst gaining invaluable experience of teamwork and pushing yourself to be the best you can be.

How it might work?

Below are some suggestions of how we can mould our scuba diving and first aid programmes to fit but we are always happy to discuss a personal plan based on your current level of diving.

We aim for an hour a week commitment over the required time periods, however due to the nature of scuba diving, the hours are sometimes amalgamated into slightly longer, slightly less frequent sessions. This can be really helpful to you in terms of reduced journeys.
