Clothing

Everything you wear around the diving rather than under it: technical shorts and leggings for the boat, warm surface layers for a cold car park, changing robes, club kit and tees. Brands include Fourth Element, Santi, XDEEP, SSI, DynamicNord, Halcyon, Mares and Dryrobe, alongside Dive Rutland's own club kit. For exposure protection in the water, see Wetsuits, Undersuits and Rashguards instead.

    Surface and topside layers

What you put on when you get out, or wear while you are waiting to get in. Santi's Bearskin expedition jacket, trousers and vest and the Silver Moon expedition jacket sit here, along with the Fourth Element Ozone jacket, Storm Poncho and Xerotherm beanie, the SSI Pro Bonded Fleece, and hoodies from XDEEP and DynamicNord. These are surface garments. For insulation in the water see Undersuits and Wetsuits.

    Changing robes

We carry the Dryrobe Advance in both long sleeve and short sleeve. Getting changed in a car park in February is a discipline of its own, and our guide to waterproof changing robes goes through what to look for and how to size one.

    Shorts and technical layers

Fourth Element Thermocline leggings, Amphibious shorts and Submerge boardshorts, Halcyon's Tech Dive Shorts, Mares Tek Shorts, DynamicNord CS-10 cargo shorts and Santi's Scuba Denim shorts. Some of these are cut for the boat and the surface interval, and some are designed to be worn in the water. The product page will tell you which, so check before you buy for a specific purpose.

    Tees, polos and club kit

Fourth Element graphic tees, SSI instructor and diver kit, and Dive Rutland's own club polo shirts, sweatshirts, beanies and bobble hats. Useful for club trips and courses, and for looking like you meant it in the pub afterwards.

    Sizing

Sizing does not carry across between these brands, and a technical layer cut to sit under something else will fit closer than a hoodie. Use the size guide for the brand you are buying. If you are ordering something to go over a base layer, allow for it, or ask us and we will check the chart with you.

    Frequently asked questions

Mostly no. This collection is what you wear around the diving rather than under it: surface layers, changing robes, shorts, tees and club kit. A few items, such as the Fourth Element Thermocline and Hydroskin pieces, are designed to be worn in the water, and the product page will say so. For exposure protection see Wetsuits, Undersuits and Rashguards.
Yes. We carry the Dryrobe Advance in both long sleeve and short sleeve. Sizing runs generously on purpose, because the whole point is getting a wet suit off underneath it, so if you are unsure between two sizes give us a call before ordering.
We do. Club polo shirts, sweatshirts, beanies and bobble hats all sit in this collection, alongside SSI instructor and diver kit. If you want something for a group or a club trip, get in touch and we will tell you what is realistic on availability and timing.
It does not carry across. Fourth Element, Santi, XDEEP, SSI, DynamicNord and Dryrobe all cut differently, and a technical layer meant to sit under something else will be cut closer than a hoodie. Use the size guide for the brand you are buying, and if you are ordering something to layer over a base layer, factor that in or ask us.
