SSI Computer Diving Speciality
Have a dive computer but only use the basic functions? Or perhaps you don’t own one yet and want to understand the differences between models, features, and benefits before buying? The SSI Computer Diving Specialty is designed to help divers get the most out of one of the most important pieces of dive equipment they own.
Dive computers can do far more than just show depth and time. Understanding how to use all the available functions can improve your dive planning, increase safety, and make your diving more efficient and enjoyable. This course helps you build confidence in using your computer before, during, and after every dive.
What is the SSI Computer Diving Speciality?
SSI created the Computer Diving Specialty to help certified divers understand the functions, capabilities, and practical benefits of modern dive computers.
During the course you will:

Explore the different types of dive computers and how they work

Learn the functions and capabilities of different computer models

Understand dive conservatism settings and what they mean

Use pre-dive planning features for safer dive preparation

Understand no-stop limits, ascent rates, and safety stops

Learn how to review and analyse your dives after surfacing

Understand how Enriched Air Nitrox affects dive computer settings

SSI Computer Diving Speciality Details
What do I need to start?

Minimum certification: Referral Diver (any agency)

SSI Open Water Diver (or equivalent) if completing optional in-water dives

Minimum age: 10 years old

A dive computer (if you don’t have one, we can loan you one for the classroom session)
How long does it take?
The theory is completed online through the SSI App at your own pace. If you wish, you can then attend an optional classroom session with one of our Dive Professionals to build practical understanding.
You can also choose to complete the eLearning only and still receive the specialty certification.
Any additional costs?
Optional open water dives are not included. Entrance fees to dive sites and travel costs would apply.
This is a great specialty to combine with our SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty, and we offer both together as a discounted bundle for even greater value.
This speciality counts towards your SSI Master Scuba Diver certification which is automatically awarded for no extra charge by SSI when you have all the pre-requisites logged within the SSI app.
Whats my next adventure after the SSI Computer Diving Speciality?

Prior to any Diver training course students need to complete a Mandatory Medical Questionaire.
Please ensure that you have read the Medical Statement and are sure that you will be able to commence any diver training PRIOR to paying as our Training Terms Conditions apply after payment has been made.
A doctor's confirmation of fitness to dive is required if you answer YES to any medical condition on the Medical Statement.
