DIRZone

DIRZone is a technical diving hardware range, and this is where to look for the metalwork of a back-mounted rig. We stock DIRZone cylinder valves and twinset manifolds, assembled twinsets, stainless and aluminium backplates, harness webbing and hardware, pockets, wing inflators and valves, surface marker buoys and a lift bag, spools, argon and suit inflation kit, and the spares that keep it all serviceable.

    About DIRZone

DIRZone equipment is aimed squarely at back-mounted technical diving: backplate and harness rigs, twinsets, and the valve and manifold hardware that sits on top of them. It is a components and hardware range rather than a headline consumer brand, and that shapes what this collection looks like. A great deal of what we stock here is the individual valve, plate, strap or spare that a diver needs to build or maintain one particular configuration, rather than a finished product off a shelf.

    What we stock from DIRZone

The list below is drawn from what is actually live in this collection rather than from the wider DIRZone catalogue.

Cylinder valves and manifolds are the deepest part of the range. We stock mono valves in DIN 144 and DIN 144-3 patterns at 230 and 300 bar, in M18, M25 and M26 threads and in left and right hand versions, along with extendable valves, extendable Lavo valves, second outlets and swivel second outlets, a fixed twin valve, double DIN valve sets and inline rebreather valves. Alongside them sit 230 and 300 bar twinset manifold systems, an isolation manifold centre section and assembled 232 bar twinsets.

Supporting those is a run of valve spares and service parts: spare axes and spindles for mono valves and Lavo manifold systems, springs and screw nuts for hand wheels, a rubber knob, Viton O-rings and oxygen-clean valve spare part kits and valve kits.

On the harness side we list stainless backplates in 3 and 6 mm and aluminium backplates in 3 mm, both as bare plates and as complete quick-fix and adjustable sets, harness webbing by the metre, crotch strap webbing, a four metre harness with central rivet, an adjustable stainless belt buckle, tank bands with stainless and plastic cam buckles, single tank adapters and a sidemount butterfly strap. Belt pockets and bellow pockets are stocked in flat and standard depths.

Wing hardware includes inflators, an inflator light, a wing safety valve, an overpressure valve, a check valve, wing screw sets and an inflator service kit. Beyond that we carry CC Pro surface marker buoys in 120, 122 and 180 cm, a 45 kg lift bag, coldwater and standard spools with stainless double enders, argon cylinder straps in three diameters with an argon first stage and spare part kit, a suit inflation system, a balanced pee valve, wet notes, a hose hook, gator wraps, a DIN to INT adapter, blanking plugs and a 1000 lumen backup LED torch.

Valves and manifolds — check the fit before you order

Cylinder valves are not generic. Thread size, working pressure and whether a valve is left or right handed all have to match the cylinder it is going into and the configuration it is part of, and a valve that looks physically similar in a photograph is not necessarily the correct one. Check the manufacturer specification for your cylinder before ordering, and if you are working out a twinset or manifold configuration, talk to us first. You can also see the wider cylinders and valves range for context.

    Who it suits

Divers running backplate and wing setups, twinsets or sidemount, and anyone maintaining that kit rather than replacing it. A good part of this collection is spares — the knob, spindle, spring or O-ring that brings an existing valve back into service.

    Frequently asked questions

Only if the specification matches, and this is worth settling before you order. Thread size, working pressure and whether a valve is left or right handed all have to suit the cylinder it is going into, and two valves that look similar in a photograph can be entirely different parts. Check the manufacturer specification for your cylinder, and if you are putting together a twinset or manifold configuration, talk to us first and we will go through it with you.
We stock both, and the practical difference is weight. A stainless plate is heavier than an aluminium one, so it carries some of the ballast you would otherwise put on a belt or in pockets; an aluminium plate is lighter to travel with but leaves more of that weight to carry elsewhere. Which suits you depends on your exposure suit, your cylinders and how you are weighted overall, so it is worth working out your weighting first rather than choosing the plate in isolation.
Quite possibly. DIRZone produce a lot of individual components and configurations and we do not list every one. If you cannot find the equipment you are looking for, please get in touch, tell us what you are trying to build or repair, and we will let you know what we can do.
