Hoses are the cheapest part of a regulator set and one of the easiest to get wrong. We stock Miflex, Nautilus, XDEEP, Apeks, Beaver and DIRZone: regulator and octopus hoses, low pressure BCD and drysuit inflator hoses, high pressure gauge hoses, plus the protectors, retainers and clips that keep them routed. Fittings and lengths vary by regulator, so if you are unsure, bring yours in and we will match it.

    Getting the fitting right

    A hose is defined by three things: what it connects to at the first stage, what it connects to at the other end, and how long it is. Regulator and octopus hoses usually take a threaded fitting into a first-stage port and a nut at the second stage. Low pressure inflator hoses for BCDs and drysuits normally finish in a quick-release coupling. High pressure hoses feed a contents gauge or a transmitter.

    Thread sizes are not universal. They differ between manufacturers, and between older and newer regulators from the same manufacturer. Check the manufacturer specification for both the hose and the regulator before you order, and if the listing does not settle it, ask us.

    Choosing a length

    Length is a configuration decision rather than a preference. A single-cylinder recreational set, a twinset with a long hose, and a sidemount pair all route differently and want different lengths. Hoses are measured end to end including the fittings, and small variations between production runs are normal, so check the individual listing for exact sizing.

    If you are moving from one configuration to another, it is worth mapping the whole set out before buying, so you are not replacing the same hose twice.

    Fitting and looking after them

    Hoses are part of a life-support assembly, so we recommend they are fitted by a competent person or a service technician. Overtightening damages hose and regulator alike, and torque figures are set by the hose manufacturer for that specific hose rather than being one number that carries across brands. Check the manufacturer specification, and never cut or modify a hose.

    Between dives, rinse hoses with the rest of your kit and look along their length for splits, bulges, corrosion at the fittings, or wear where a hose passes over a hard edge.     Routing and hose management

    Retainers, hooks, protectors and holders keep hoses tidy and clear of the reef, the wreck and the rest of your kit. They also support the hose where it leaves the fitting, which is where flexing concentrates over the life of the hose. We stock these alongside the hoses themselves.
