Junior Try Scuba Course Overview
The Junior Try Scuba programme lets our youngsters experience the thrill of diving underwater whilst under the close supervision of one of our dive professionals in a swimming pool environment.
Here at DIVE Rutland, we love having our Junior Divers around, their excitement is contagious!!
What Do I need to participate in the Junior Try Scuba?
- You need to be aged 8 - 10 years old.
- Download and sign the participant up in the SSI App
- Complete the SSI Try Dive Medical (if a YES on this form then the Full Medical Statement needs to be signed by a Physician)
What will they do during the Junior Try Scuba?
You and they will attend our Dive Centre where we fit the youngster for SCUBA equipment and then introduce them to the world of SCUBA diving, the equipment they will be using, how to be safe and, not least, the underwater fun and games that we'll have in the pool.
Then we relocate to the pool for the main event
During the session, our Junior Try Dive participants will:-
- Put on their equipment, mask, snorkel and fins.
- Submerge in the pool to a maximum of 2 metres.
- Swim underwater whilst trying to contain their excitement, smiles and waving!
- Play games, throw underwater toys and generally have a great time experiencing the freedom that us divers value so much!

How Long does it take?
This is a one pool session introduction to diving
Parents or Guardians
Please make sure that a parent or guardian is available to accompany the young diver at all times and that you bring suitable swimming clothing including swimming costumes & t-shirts for girls, beach shorts and t-shirts for boys.
All of our staff are DBS checked and we operate full safeguarding policies and procedures.
What is the Next Adventure after Junior Try Scuba Dive?
Our younsters can continue to enjoy the sport of SCUBA through enrolling on our Explorer programme - this pool based diving programme is great for young divers as an introduction to the underwater realm.

Prior to any Diver training course students need to complete a Mandatory Medical Questionaire.
Please ensure that you have read the Medical Statement and are sure that you will be able to commence any diver training PRIOR to paying as our Training Terms Conditions apply after payment has been made.
A doctor's confirmation of fitness to dive is required if you answer YES to any medical condition on the Medical Statement.
Please note that if you need a Physician signoff most of our local surgeries WILL NOT sign this form, we suggest you contact Midlands Dive Chamber 01788 579 555 in this instance.
