What Lumb Bros make

Lumb Bros make the plain, hard-wearing hardware that holds a dive kit together: lead, stainless fittings, cylinder bands, line and signalling gear. It is the least glamorous part of anyone's kit, and it is the part most likely to get lost, bent or quietly corroded away over a season.

What we stock from Lumb Bros

The list below reflects what is currently live in this collection rather than everything Lumb Bros produce.

Lead weights: coated hard lead blocks in 500g, 1kg, 2kg and 3kg, loose lead shot by the kilo, tail weights and a V weight.
Stainless hardware: 316 stainless D-rings and straight D-rings, split rings in 40mm and 50mm, stainless rings, a double-ended bolt snap, a snap hook and a carabiner with split ring.
Cylinder rigging: 316 stainless jubilee bands, a cylinder band with D-ring, and protective covers that sit between the band and the cylinder.
Line and cord: a reel, stainless line stops, and braided and bungee cord sold by the metre.
Signalling and notes: a divers whistle, a tank banger, an LED wand and a divers slate.
Odds and ends: a hose retaining clip and a crab hook.

Materials and sizing

The lead blocks are antimonial lead in a plastic coating, black or yellow, sized to thread onto a standard weight belt. The hardware is 316 stainless, the grade normally chosen for saltwater use. Jubilee band sizing is quoted as a length range against cylinder size, so check the individual listing against the cylinder you are actually rigging rather than guessing.

How much weight you need depends on your exposure suit and undersuit, your cylinder, your BCD or wing, and on you. Any figure printed on a collection page would be wrong for most of the people reading it. Do a proper weight check in the water, buy to that, and re-check it whenever your suit or cylinder changes.
