Shearwater have built their name on dive computers that are straightforward to read and straightforward to drive. We carry the Peregrine and Peregrine TX, the Perdix 2 and Perdix 2 Ti, the Petrel 3 and the Teric, along with the Swift wireless transmitter and the straps and screen protectors that go with them. About Shearwater

Founded in 2004, Shearwater Research build dive computers for recreational and technical divers. The company was started by Bruce Partridge, a technical diver with a background in computer systems design and embedded programming, with the aim of making computers that were capable, dependable and straightforward to read underwater.

From the beginning, Shearwater focused on simple, logical menus and interfaces that work in real-world diving conditions. Minimal button presses and clear, easy-to-read displays help divers make decisions without fighting the device.

Shearwater became a familiar name in the technical diving community, supplying trimix computers and rebreather control systems. The same interface design now runs through their recreational models, so the range spans first computers through to rebreather diving.

Divers tend to buy them for the readability and the consistent behaviour across models — useful whether you are on your first dives or running technical profiles.

What we stock from Shearwater

Dive computers. The Peregrine and the Peregrine TX, the Perdix 2 and the Perdix 2 Ti, the Petrel 3, and the Teric. We also list the Perdix 2 Journey Bronze Edition, and a Perdix 2 and Swift Ti package.

Air integration. The Shearwater Swift wireless transmitter, also available as part of the Perdix 2 and Swift Ti package. Support for air integration varies by computer, so check the manufacturer specification for the model you own or intend to buy.

Accessories. Replacement Peregrine computer straps, a Perdix screen protector, and a PET screen protector kit.

Choosing between them

The models differ in size, display and capability, and what suits club diving at Rutland is not necessarily what suits someone running trimix or a rebreather. There is no single best model here — the honest answer depends on the diving you are actually doing. Check the manufacturer specification for each one you are weighing up.
