Wings

A wing separates buoyancy from harness, so each part can be set up for the diving you actually do. Get it right and trim, stability and drag all improve; get it wrong and you fight the kit every dive. We stock XDEEP and Halcyon, in single-cylinder, twinset and sidemount configurations. Talk to us before you buy if you are moving towards technical diving.

    Buoyancy, built around you

A wing system is more than buoyancy control. It is the part of the rig that decides how you sit in the water. We stock wing systems we dive and teach with, chosen for performance, durability and how well they adapt across recreational, technical and progression-focused diving.

Whether you are moving to a backplate and wing for the first time or refining a technical configuration, the right wing makes a noticeable difference to trim, stability and comfort in the water.

    Why dive a wing system

Wing systems separate buoyancy from harness design, so each element can be set up for your diving rather than compromised against the other. The result is better trim, less drag, and a setup you can extend rather than replace.

Key considerations when selecting a wing:

    • Lift capacity appropriate to your cylinder choice and exposure protection
    • Single or twin cylinder compatibility
    • Harness and plate options to suit body shape, environment and future plans
    • Build quality and materials designed to withstand real-world diving

    The brands we stock

XDEEP wings are modular and were developed alongside working technical divers. They are set up for natural trim and clean hose routing, and are used in both recreational backplate setups and technical configurations. The Zen and Zeos systems are the ones we are asked about most.

Halcyon wings are built around a simple, serviceable design, which is what tends to appeal to divers who want to strip a rig down themselves. We stock the Eclipse and Evolve systems, and they are a common choice among technical divers and instructors.

Not sure which wing is right for you

Choosing a wing is about how you dive now and where you want your diving to go next. If you are unsure, speak to us before buying. As an active training centre we help divers configure wings correctly from day one, which avoids costly mistakes and makes the first dives on a new setup far more comfortable.

    Frequently asked questions

Enough to float your rig at the surface and to hold you comfortably if your suit floods, and no more. Over-sized wings add drag and make trim harder, which is the opposite of what a wing is for.

The honest answer depends on your cylinders, your exposure protection and how much lead you carry, so it is not a number we can give from a page. Tell us what you dive and we will work it out with you.
These are different purchases, not different sizes of the same one. A single-cylinder wing, a twinset wing and a sidemount system differ in lift, shape, gas routing and harness, and a wing bought for one does not usefully convert to another.

Buy for the diving you will be doing in the next couple of years, not only for today. If you are heading towards twinset or sidemount, say so before you buy the single-cylinder setup.
Some of our listings are complete systems including plate, harness and wing; others are the wing bladder only, for divers replacing or upgrading part of an existing setup. Check what is included before you order.

If you are building from scratch, it is usually simpler and cheaper to buy a system than to assemble one piece by piece.
