Waterproof are a Swedish exposure protection brand, and suits are the core of what we carry from them. At Dive Rutland you will find the W-series and Neoskin wetsuits, the SD Neoflex semi-dry, the H1 and H2 hood families, G-series gloves, boots and socks, the Ultima dry glove system, drysuit seals and valves, the NORD undersuit, rash vests, bags and surface wear.

About Waterproof

Waterproof was founded on the west coast of Sweden by brothers Björn and Göran Ehlmé, united by a shared passion for diving. Göran, now Head of R&D, is a polar explorer and underwater photographer who has filmed for the BBC and National Geographic, while Björn brought the drive to build the company. Together they set out to make dive gear that would hold up in genuinely cold water.

With over 40 years behind them, Waterproof make wetsuits, drysuits and exposure protection for recreational and professional divers. Products are developed and tested in demanding real-world conditions, from Antarctic water through to the Arctic — an approach they call “Facing Reality.”

Waterproof sell internationally through their own network of distributors and retailers, and their suits are in regular use across recreational and professional diving.

In practice that means a range built around fit, insulation and durability — which is what actually decides whether a suit is worth owning in UK water.

What Dive Rutland stocks from Waterproof

Our Waterproof range is built around wetsuits and the exposure protection that goes with them:

Wetsuits — the W30 2.5mm, W5 v2 3.5mm, W50 5mm, W7 in 5mm and 7mm, W8 in 5mm and 7mm and the W80 8mm, in men’s and women’s cuts, plus W30 shorties and the 1mm Neoskin.
Semi-dry — the SD Neoflex 7mm.
Hoods — the H1 range in bibbed and bibless cuts, the H1 ICE and H1 Polar hoods, the H2 bibless, the H30 2mm and a hair protector hood.
Gloves — G2 neoprene gloves in 1.5mm, 3mm and 5mm, the G30 2.5mm, the G50 5mm, Thermo Gloves and latex dry gloves.
The Ultima dry glove system — complete systems plus the suit and glove rings, o-rings, equalisation tubes, push-pull parts and the fitting tool.
Boots and socks — B50 5mm boots, B1 1.5mm neoprene socks and S30 2mm socks.
Under-layers — the NORD 200g undersuit, the U30 2mm undervest and 3D mesh vests.
Rash vests — the R30 in long and short sleeve, and the WPSkin rashguard.
Drysuit seals, valves and spares — silicone and neoprene neck seals, silicone wrist seals including heavy duty and bottleneck versions, the QCS wrist kit, the Neck Tite kit, inlet and outlet valves, seal lubricant and a valve and seal multi-tool.
Bags — the 100 litre duffle and the 65 litre WPX drysuit bag.
Surface wear and extras — the W-Breaker jacket, a reversible beanie, the MultiTube, a suit hanger, a slap strap and the WPAD wetsuit pocket.

Fit, sizing and layering

A wetsuit only does its job when it fits closely, because a loose suit flushes. Waterproof produce a lot of different models in separate men’s and women’s patterns, so your size in one suit is not a guaranteed match in another — check the manufacturer’s size chart for the specific suit.

Thicker neoprene insulates more than thinner neoprene, but it also adds buoyancy, so expect to revisit your weighting when you change suits or add an under-layer. If you can get to the shop, try before you buy; if you cannot, talk to us before ordering.
