SSI Night & Limited Visibility Speciality

Overview

Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night, meaning your dive adventurs do not have to end when the sun goes down.

What Do I need to start the SSI Night  & Limited Visibility Speciality?

  • SSI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organisation)
  • Minimum age: 10 years old

What Will I do during the course?

You'll learn

  • Night dive planning and organisation
  • Procedures, techniques and potential problems.
  • You'll also learn how to control your buoyancy, navigate and communicate at night.
  • Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life
  • How to communicate under water

How Long does this course take?

The inwater part of the course is 2 night training dives , but you need time to complete the online elearning and time with your instructor to consolidate and plan your night dives.

Trips provide great opportunities for Night Diving!

Any Other Costs?

Entrance fees for open water site and personal travel costs.

What is my Next Adventure after the SSI Night  & Limited Visibility Speciality?

  • Join the Dive Rutland Club and regularly dive
  • Join a Dive Rutland trip and come diving

This speciality counts towards your SSI Advanced Open Water Speciality and counts as one speciality towards your SSI Master Scuba Diver Certification.
