Wetsuit choice comes down to water temperature, how long you are in and how hard you are working. Thickness sets the insulation; fit decides whether that insulation does anything at all. We stock suits from Fourth Element, Waterproof, Cressi, Beuchat and Aqualung among others, in adult and children's sizes, for UK diving and for warmer water abroad. Try one on if you can get to us.

The wetsuit you choose should be based primarily on water temperature, activity type, and duration in the water. Wetsuit thickness is measured in millimetres and directly affects both insulation and flexibility.
These are guidelines only. Cold tolerance varies between individuals, and longer dives or low-activity diving will generally require more insulation. Most UK inland and coastal diving sits in the bottom two bands for much of the year, which is why many divers here eventually move to a drysuit.
A wetsuit works by holding a thin layer of water against your skin. If the suit is loose, that water is flushed and replaced as you move, and the suit will not keep you warm regardless of how thick it is. Choosing the right wetsuit is about matching conditions, fit and intended use together.
