    How to Choose a Wetsuit

The wetsuit you choose should be based primarily on water temperature, activity type, and duration in the water.

Wetsuit thickness is measured in millimetres and directly affects insulation and flexibility.

    General thickness guide:

    • Warm water (above 24°C): 1.5–2 mm wetsuit or rash vest
    • Mild water (18–24°C): 2–3 mm wetsuit
    • Cool water (14–18°C): 4–5 mm wetsuit
    • Cold water (below 14°C): 5 mm+ wetsuit or a drysuit

These are guidelines only. Cold tolerance varies between individuals, and longer dives or low-activity diving will generally require more insulation.

Choosing the right wetsuit is about matching conditions, fit, and intended use. A well-fitted wetsuit improves warmth, comfort, and enjoyment in the water, whether you are diving locally or travelling abroad.
