Why Should I complete the SSI Science of Diving?
Gaining an indepth knowledge to diving theory and dive equipment will help you develop a complete understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body.
This course is a pre-requisite to the SSI Divemaster certification however it is available for any qualified diver to find out more.
What Do I need to start the SSI Science of Diving?
- Open Water Diver
- Have the ambition to learn and understand more about the physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and general diving equipment.
What Will I do during the SSI Science of Diving?
You will work through the online elearning at your leisure and then spend time with us in the classroom or if you choose virtually consolidating and looking at various aspects of the theory and dive equipment you have been reading about, allowing you time to ask any questions that you may have.
How Long will the SSI Science of Diving Take?
After completing the online element we offer you the opportunity to come into the classroom (or virtual) for between 2 - 4 hours to consolidate and answer any questions that you might have. This 'face to face' session is a highly interactive session to validate your learnings, ability to explain and apply but you do not have to attend a classroom session if you do not feel it is needed.

Whats Next after the SSI Science of Diving Course?
- Become an SSI Divemaster
- Not ready to be a dive profession and work towards and achieve your SSI Divemaster Certification; then
- Complete the Equipment Techniques course and find out much more about diving equipment and what you should do to maintain and what first line fixes you can safely undertake; or
- Complete the React Right course to consolidate and find out more about First Aid and responding to medical emergencies
- Try out a Full Face Mask with a Try Dive or complete a full Face Mask diving certification
How do I book this course?
Select the date of the course or if the dates do not work for you or no courses are displayed then select the 31st December course and we will arrange release of your elearning and then if you wish to come into class (or virtual) we can schedule your face to face training after you have had time to start the online elearning materials
Prior to any Diver training course students need to complete a Mandatory Medical Questionaire.
Please ensure that you have read the Medical Statement and are sure that you will be able to commence any diver training PRIOR to paying as our Training Terms Conditions apply after payment has been made.
A doctor's confirmation of fitness to dive is required if you answer YES to any medical condition on the Medical Statement.
