The xDeep Closed SMB ensures that the biggest visible area of bouy is seen at the surface, as the bouy is completely closed it will remain inflated at the surface even if tension is removed from the line. The xDeep Closed SMB is inflated orally (blowing into it) or using a drysuit hose, the drysuit hose method ensures a much larger volume of gas is added to the bag helping to ensure that it is as full as possible when reaching the surface.

The xDeep SMB is made from a highly visibile orange nylon that is stong and rated for use in life jackets and signalling devices. A strip of reflective SOLAS tapes is firMLy affixed to the top of the SMB to provide visiblity in fading light, a clear section on the side of the SMB can be used to store a small note or a chemical lightstick. Ingeniouslsy, the xDeep closed SMB can be transformed into a makeshift life ring by using a double ended bolt snap, simple clip one end to the small loop at the top of the SMB and the other to strop at bottom, thus creating a ring.
