PADI Deep Speciality
There is something exciting and mysterious about depth that attracts divers!
Overview of the PADI Deep Speciality
This speciality is one of the most popular PADI Specialty courses. It is a great choice for those who wish to brush up their dive planning and general skills.
It also gives you a deeper maximum depth, meaning you can dive down to 40 metres once you complete the course. You increase your confidence in the water and consolidate your existing knowledge, going much more “in depth” when it comes to dive planning and no decompression limits.
What do I need to start?
- PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent) or above
- Minimum age: 15 years old
- Mask / Snorkel and Dive Computer
It is important to be pretty confident in your abilities too. This is not an agency prerequisite, but just common sense. If you are terrified of diving, or haven’t dived in years, then it is common sense to get a bit more training in before doing the deep dive specialty.
What will I Do?
During your PADI Deep Diver Specialty course, you'll learn techniques for diving in the deeper range of 18-40 metres including
- deep scuba diving equipment considerations
- safe diving techniques, planning, and skills.
The course includes 4 deep dives (3 if Advanced open water diver) with a PADI Deep Specialty Instructor where you'll plan and carry out the dives along with practicing emergency procedures including the use of alternate air supplies, extended safety stops and understanding the physiological effects of depth.
How Long will it take?
Over and above complete the online elearning, you will attend two days in open water (four dive speciality) or one day in open water (three dive speciality).
At DIVE Rutland we usually plan this over two successive Sundays and sometimes two consecutive days. We also take advantage of trips to provide this course.
Any other costs?
Not included is the Entrance fees for open water site and personal travel costs
