PADI AWARE Specialist
This is a non diving speciality designed to familiarise EVERYONE with the role that the PADI AWARE Foundation plays in protecting aquatic ecosystems worldwide.
By discussing the plight of our ecosystem it allows us to work together to come up with a plan for you to be able to help protect our aquatic resources

PADI AWARE Specialist Overview
During this classroom based specialty, you will
- learn how PADI AWARE unites scuba divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference.
- find out more about environmental issues in the ocean commons and coastal zones.
- learn more about fisheries, their challenges and sustainability problems, what’s happening to coral reefs and reef inhabitants and your role in protecting aquatic environments.
What do I need to start the PADI AWARE Specialist?
Just enthusiasm and drive to learn and make a change. There are no prerequisites, age restrictions or water sessions required for this non-diving specialty and therefore its available to anyone who wants to make a difference and be a hero for our underwater world
What will I do on the PADI AWARE Specialist?
Through a classroom discussion and presentation you will
- Be given an introduction to the FANTASTIC charity that is PADI AWARE
- Learn about what the PADI AWARE movement is and how we contribute
- Learn about fisheries and sustainability
- Coral environment overview and habitats
- Learn the 10 Tips to Protect the Ocean Planet
Then our PADI professionals who are enthusiastic about protecting our underwater world to help YOU build an action plan based on the learnings and understand of the 10 Tips for protecting our oceans, the underlying philosophy of this course.
The Actions plans will be YOURS to take away and allow you to assist Project AWARE in its goals and missions, Goals and Missions which we can help with, after all the ocean is where we want to dive, snorkel and swim.
The underlying aim is to Help you to GO AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
How long will the PADI AWARE Specialist take?
This course takes approximately 3 hours
Who should take the PADI AWARE Specialist?
Anyone with an interest in sustainability and a general interest in our oceans
What can I do after the PADI AWARE Specialist?
Implement your plan; then if a diver this counts as one of your specialities towards Master Scuba Diver. Not a diver then why not try a Discover Diving Session or dive straight into a PADI Open Water Course?
Prior to any Diver training course students need to complete a Mandatory Medical Questionaire.
Please ensure that you have read the Medical Statement and are sure that you will be able to commence any diver training PRIOR to paying as our Training Terms Conditions apply after payment has been made.
A doctor's confirmation of fitness to dive is required if you answer YES to any medical condition on the Medical Statement.
