Advanced Open Water Diver: SSI
ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER OVERVIEW
The SSI Advanced Open Water is different to other agencies Advanced Open Water certification. This qualification requires you to have achieved four different specialities and have 24 logged dives.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START THE ADVANCED OPEN WATER?
- You need to be an Open Water Diver or equivalent
- Aged 15 to allow you to complete the Deep Speciality
- Mask / Snorkel / Dive Computer
HOW LONG WILL THE ADVANCED OPEN WATER TAKE?
At your own leisure you will complete the online elearning, followed by at least three days but not necessarily consecutively for the dives and classroom sessions plus the time it takes to achieve the 24 separate dives
WHAT SPECIALITIES DO YOU INCLUDE WITH THE ADVANCED OPEN WATER?
Package 1 - Dry Suit Diving or Perfect Buoyancy / Deep Diving / Enriched Air and Computer Diving
This is five open water dives completed in 2 days + Classroom time 1 day + 1 pool session
Package 2 - Dry Suit Diving or Perfect Buoyancy / Navigation / Wreck Diving / Deep Diving
This is nine open water dives completed in 3 days
WHAT CAN I DO AFTER ADVANCED OPEN WATER?
Go diving and continue to grow as a diver, maybe join our dive club and make new friends as well as join club trips and events.
Oakham Swimming Pool
The 25m heated swimming pool at Oakham School's Leisure Centre is perfect for scuba diver training and kids' diving courses. This state-of-the-art facility provides laned sections for focused training and a comfortable, warm environment, ensuring an ideal learning experience for divers of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're refining your technique or introducing children to the wonders of diving, our pool offers the perfect setting.
Our pool session(s) are on Saturday evenings from 18:00 - 20:00, with a meet at the Dive Centre prior (this time will be confirmed when you book). The time at the Dive Centre is spent on various activities depending on which course you are undertaking but for all first session this will involve introducing you to your instructor, the dive equipment you will be using in the pool, a safety briefing and the evenings activities. During non term time then we have a pool session available on a Thursday from 19:00 - 21:00.
