PADI Assistant Instructor Course

Is it worth becoming a PADI Assistant Instructor versus a Full PADI Open Water Instructor?

The rating between Divemaster and Open Water Scuba Instructor.  This course enables you to build upon your abilities to organise and supervise scuba diving activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills.  As an Assistant Instructor you are a more valuable PADI Professional to a Dive Centre through the additional range of duties you can undertake.

So if you like people, wish to share your passion for being in and around water (as well as under it!), or someone who is not sure if instructing is for them, then the Assistant Instructor course gives you the chance to teach without completing the full Instructor Development Course

PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course Overview

The Assistant Instructor course is the second Membership / Professional Level in the PADI system and is the foundation block of the full Instructor Development Course (IDC).   Assistant Instructors are generally well prepared to enter the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) element of the IDC as they've had time to build experience teaching and working with students.  The Open Water Instructor element of the IDC builds upon the skills, learning and tools that Assistant Instructors learn.

Dive Rutland Philosophy

Here at Dive Rutland, we would like you to question whether someone who is teaching i.e. an Instructor or Assistant Instructor is actually instructing.  Ask yourself, can you actually instruct someone in the art of clearing their mask.  The answer is NO.  I can show you how to clear your mask but only you can actually undertake the skill and the way that it can be achieved is varied, so because I do it one way, is that the right way.  Probably not, it is the way that I do... the way that you do will and could quite rightly be a variance on that, so am I an instructor, no I believe not... I believe I am a coach and all instructors should have that approach and mentality.

What we actually do is CHANGE LIVES!

You do that by:

  • Installing confidence in others!
  • Improving people's self esteem!
  • Helping people reach impossible goals!
  • Give people a purpose in life!
  • Make lifelong friends!
  • Gain respect from others!

We believe that PADI Instructors get FAR better results when they STOP trying to teach......Instead they ALLOW their students to learn.  The Assistant Instructor course is the start of this process, so to find out HOW, come and join this course

What can PADI Assistant Instructors Do?

In addition to the responsibilities and duties you already have as a PADI Divemaster, as a PADI Assistant Instructor you will be able to have the confidence and the ability to :-"
