SSI Scuba Skills Update

Are your dive skills feeling a bit rusty, or has it been a while since your last dive? Fear not! The SSI Scuba Skills Update is designed to swiftly reintroduce you to the underwater world with confidence and ease.

This scuba refresher course provides a valuable opportunity to revisit and refine the scuba skills acquired during your Open Water Diver program, regardless of agency you originally trained with.

You will be guided by one of our experienced SSI Professionals, you'll refresh your abilities, ensuring a seamless return to diving.

Ideal for those planning a dive holiday, the Scuba Skills Update minimises skill-related concerns, allowing you to focus on the mesmerisng marine life. For non-certified Open Water Diver students, this course offers a perfect chance to practice and enhance dive skills before venturing into open water training dives.

Using  SSI Elearning, prior to your in water session with us you will review some Dive theory, you will move through at your own pace, and delve deeper into topics when you need or want to after completing the theory review.

What Will I do as part of the SSI Skills Update?

Prior to your confined water, you will create a profile in the SSI App (if you do not already have one) and we will allocate you the online course

In the water a Dive Rutland Professional will help you regain comfort and confidence in scuba diving.  You'll practice a few safety-related skills and then go over anything you specifically want to review.

During the Water Skills part you will have to assemble your equipment, enter the water and:

  1. Practise Controlled Descents and Ascents
  2. Remove, replace and clear the mask
  3. Practise Neutral Buoyancy (Proper Diving positions)
  4. Use the weight system’s quick release to become positively buoyant in water too deep to stand in
  5. Ascend using an alternate air source and establish positive buoyancy on the surface
  6. Practise Emergency Ascent Skills

After this our Instructor will help you to practice and SCUBA skills you would like to practice.

Couldnt recommend Tracy and her team enough for a first aid course. Having to renew it every 3 years used to send me to sleep. Not with these guys! professional, up to date and with lots of toys to play with, without the death by powerpoint.
