Open Water Instructor SSI: Compact Instructor Training Course
This option is ONLY for instructors from other professional training agencies who wish to become an instructor with SSI.
Why become a Dive Instructor with SSI?
The rewards of being a Dive Instructor are boundless; changing people’s lives, helping to overcome fears, facilitating career and lifestyle changes, and forging deep and lasting friendships. Plenty of hard work and dedication are required but you already know this as an instructor.
Lets look at some of the very specific reasons you should be an instructor with SSI:-
- All instructor materials are included in renewal fees along with all updates to the Total Teaching system - once you have the materials no more expense - updated for life.
- The SSI philosophy is to go diving - with more speciality courses again with the underlying aim to go diving.
- 70 programs in 50 languages all digital - allowing you to support your student. They can follow along in their language whilst your materials are in yours.
- Pro Rewards - teach enough courses and you get a free renewal or contribute towards your renewal
- Everything is included in one renewal - all levels pay the same price (Divemasters are cheaper)
- The SSI Digital platform - is multi platform as well as multi language
- Digital Log book
- My dive guide
- SSI is continually innovating and developing the online systems
Why as an instructor already, do I have to complete the SSI Instructor Compact Training programme?
We appreciate that as an instructor with another agency you know how to teach, however knowing the SSI system, its philosophies and the skill differences is important, you need time to embed yourself into these systems and way of thinking.
The best way to achieve this is by going through the SSI Instructor Development course with other candidates but like everything with SSI there is flexibility in the programme and we do have this Compact Instructor Training Course option available.
On completion of the Instructor Development course or this compact option, you will then complete an external instructor exam.
Why Choose Dive Rutland for your SSI Instructor Training Course (ITC)?
If you are reading this, then you know that diving is fun!! Learning a new diving agency and its systems should also be fun. We can guarantee to make your SSI ITC an enjoyable experience. It’s so important that you are well prepared and relaxed for your SSI ITC Instructor course. When you are relaxed, laughing and comfortable, you will learn a lot about teaching others to dive.
We are happy to run this course as a 121 or you can choose to spend a full five days with us through a full Instructor Development Course.
You, and the team that you’ll be working with, will develop varied ways of passing information and skills over to others. In a small group, to ensure high quality and individual attention, you will learn and master the tools required to begin teaching others. You’ll learn how to:
- Build rapport with your future students
- Create confidence in others
- Refresh teaching everybody, regardless of their individual learning style
- Allow students to learn in their own way
- You’ll learn to “Teach People – and NOT Courses!”
- Teach students whilst in a natural diving position, not on their knees
- Kneeling way and neutral way - Different ways of getting the student to be successful with skills depending on working conditions and environment.
Not only that, but you’ll learn how you will become very effective and an efficient mentor and coach because here at Dive Rutland we question the fact that you are an instructor. We can not instruct a student in "how to partially flood and clear your mask" what we can do is show them how we do it and then they have a go, this is coaching, the student effectively teaches themselves.
As an instructor you already have teaching experience but you are welcome to 'work' with our team and see the SSI teaching system in full force.
Even after becoming an instructor with SSI, we will stay in touch continue to support and provide advice.
