What Preparation should I undertake to be well prepared for the SSI Deep Diver Speciality?
Being well prepared for your Deep Diving Speciality ensures you’ll get the most out of the course and enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Master the basics – Be confident with your core diving skills such as assembling your dive equipment, carrying out buddy checks, and general in-water comfort.
Buoyancy control – You should be able to hover and dive neutrally buoyant, as precise buoyancy becomes even more important at depth - the Perfect Buoyancy Speciality helps with this
Deploying an SMB – Practise deploying a Surface Marker Buoy while neutrally buoyant. If you’re new to this skill, consider joining one of our SMB Workshops to learn about different types of SMBs, reels and spools, and how to deploy safely before refining the skill in your own practice.
